A perfect location

The glamor of Chania is completely justified by the plethora of attractions they offer and the long history they testify. It is considered the most picturesque city of Crete thanks to the Venetian port with the lighthouse and the old town that they maintain and generally remain unforgettable in the minds of their visitors.

Visit the fortress of Firkas and the lighthouse, the church of Agios Nikolaos but also the Giali Mosque, the Archaeological and the Naval Museum, the place where the ruins of ancient Kydonia are located, take a walk in the historic municipal market, but mainly feel it pulse of Chania in the alleys of the old town and in your contact with the local Cretan hospitality. In the wider prefecture there are beaches of world renown (Elafonissi, Balos, Falasarna), a multitude of gorges, with the most famous being that of Samaria and countless picturesque villages. Cretan cuisine is at its best and the locals are waiting to host you in their own unique way.

Kalathas beach is located 11 km northeast of Chania, at the west coast of Akrotiri peninsula. It is the beach of the homonymous Kalathas village, which is located uphill.

The beach is relatively big, with great water and fine sand. It is organized, with sunbeds and parasols, water sports, lifeguard service, beach bar etc. If you prefer more seclusion, you can walk to the western edge of the main beach, and after some rock formations, you can reach a smaller secluded beach.

The shallow water of the beach makes it ideal for families with children. Opposite the beach, and in a distance of only 200 m, there is a small picturesque islet, where you can easily swim to.

Kalathas beach is one of these “secret” beaches around Chania city, that most locals know about, but generally go unnoticed by visitors. If you like to explore around Chania city, a trip to this special beach is recommended!

Loutraki beach is located in the Akrotiri peninsula, 16 km away from Chania city. The beach is situated in a wonderful bay with crystal-clear water and fine sand and is very popular with the locals, especially the young ones. It is very close to Marathi beach.

On the elevated side of Loutraki beach, there is a big beach bar & restaurant with a large outside area with grass, where there are plenty of sunbeds and parasols, and where you have many options for eating and drinking.

Marathi beach is located 17 km east of Chania, in the Akrotiri peninsula. It is a beautiful sandy beach with shallow water, and protected by summer winds, due to its orientation. The beach is ideal for families with young children, and provides ample view to the sea and to the White Mountains of Crete in the background.

The beach is well organized with sunbeds, parasols, showers, lifeguard service etc. It also has infrastructure for disabled persons. Close to the beach you can find taverns, restaurants and cafes providing all the food and drinks you may need.

Marathi beach is close to Loutraki beach. It is a favorite of the locals, and for good reason.
